Day 3 - A main protagonist’s best friend/sidekicks(s), their bio(s)
Name: Kunizka
Age: 8
Location: Capital City within The Realm in a secret annex below the Castle complex.
Occupation: As Queen Reizka’s only living family she has the title of Princess, but doesn’t have any real duties other than to stay out of sight and to not disclose secrets, neither of which she is very good at. She would like to learn the Discipline of Healing, but Reizka forbids it.
Appearance: She was never human, and so the rules of the world don’t apply to her. Unlike the others (but like Reizka) she can change her form at will and it doesn’t have the same correlation with her mental state. She is about 4 foot and of regular build for a young girl. Her hair changes from platinum blonde to various shades of blue, and like Reizka her skin is white and pearlescent sometimes reflecting rainbows in the light. Her eyes vary from watery blue to dark brown. She wishes to be like the humans in the real world, so she’s scavenged various pieces of clothes while exploring via the black holes and typically wears them like a uniform: a yellow plaid miniskirt that reaches her knees, and black and white striped hoodie, white knee socks, and orange boy’s sneakers. She has been observed by Corinn and various others to look more like her father Nathan than her mother.
Hobbies: Because she is often ignored by her mother and banned from speaking to most people, she has developed a great imagination and likes to create monsters and watch the students and citizens fight them from a distance. She particularly enjoys creating monsters that have never been seen before so that she can watch Nathan in particular fighting. She carries around a glass orb filled with ‘water’ from the viewing pool so that she can spy on people, usually Nathan, the Fire master Momo, or Mirabel the Healer. She is the only one who dares to look for and go into the black holes which take her to other dimensions such as ‘the real world’ and other places, and she loves exploring using those.
Attitude/Personality Traits: She is shy around others and tends to be quiet. She is quick to judge character though because she does so much observing, so she is often smiling or giggling at others when she deduces their secrets. She is innocent and imaginative, and likes to spend most of her time playing and observing others. However, she doesn’t always realize when she’s gone too far in her games, and sometimes creates monsters that are real problems. Even though she is good at entertaining herself she is often lonely, and gets attached to people and things easily. She hides a deep distrust of and dislike for her mother, who tries to isolate her and keeps secrets from her but also refuses to see her, that often manifests itself as blatant treason.
Relationships of Note: Her ‘cousin’ (mother), Queen Reizka. Reizka claims she is her aunt so that Kunizka can hold the title of Princess, but she doesn’t have to tell Nathan that the girl is his daughter. She usually ignores Kunizka, and in turn Kunizka hates her. Nathan, who does not know he is her father, is a subject she often stalks or watches. She is obsessed with him and knows he is her father but doesn’t feel the need to tell him because she thinks it’s funny that he doesn’t know. Momo Hojgaard, the Fire Master, was often her playfellow when she was younger, and raised her more than her mother. He is the only person she will really take direction from. Corinn, who she befriends in the woods. Corinn is her first real friend outside of her protective circle and she often confides confidential secrets in her.
Abilities/Powers/Weapons: She has the ability to change her shape at will, but always comes back to her original form within a few hours of the change. Kunizka is the only person who has gone through the black holes. She has the ability to create monsters at will rather than forming them in relation to mental states like the human visitors.
Backstory: Kunizka’s parents are Queen Reizka and Nathan Keane. She was born in the realm and therefore was technically never human, though she does has certain human qualities she inherited from Nathan. Shortly after her birth Nathan gave up his title as King Consort and ended his romantic relationship with Reizka, throwing her into a deep melancholy for a number of reasons. Therefore, she never told Nathan he was Kunizka’s father, and preferred to forget about Kunizka altogether. Like her mother though, Kunizka is immortal. Shortly after she was born Reizka offered to sacrifice Kunizka to the demon Hebe in exchange for her soul back, but he couldn’t take it because it isn’t a human soul. To keep the people of the Realm from learning her secrets she tells them Kunizka is her cousin, and also kept Kunizka isolated from the rest of the world most of her childhood by banning her from leaving the Castle Complex and forbidding anyone to talk to her. Kunizka was raised primarily by Fire Master Momo Hojgaard (a wizard-turned-cat), who is Reizka’s second favorite person to Nathan and the only other one who knows her secrets and sees her face. She lived most of her young life in an underground section of the castle, which most people don’t know of and not even Reizka had ever bothered to fully explore. To a lonely little girl it was an adventure, and she developed a wild imagination and a love for exploring the winding hallways and caves that took her as far as he edge of the forest and to The Arena where she loved watching the students fight. Kunizka became addicted to watching people, so she demanded a glass orb filled with water from the viewing pool as the one gift Reizka ever gave her. She found the first black hole two years ago in a room right beneath the viewing pool cavern and went into it figuring she had not much to lose. She ended up in the human world as a ‘ghost’, and wandered around a city that was fascinatingly different from her world for hours. Then she learned that she could get home if she touched Reizka’s eternity symbol which she had always worn on a pendant anyway. She had spent enough time watching the world go by through the viewing pool, the tunnels, and her orb to know nearly all the secrets that were kept in Rakuin, so she kept the secret of the black holes to herself because she felt she deserved something to call her own. As time went on she went on adventures to other dimensions via the black holes more often. In her free time she used the tunnels more frequently as well, mainly to go to the surface and stalk Nathan. On the surface she realized that Nathan was banned from speaking to her too, but she could create monsters like all the other human visitors and when she made them scary enough her mother would have to call Nathan to dispatch them. It was while she was doing this one day that she first met Corinn in the woods, who would later become like a mother to her.
